Meet the Coaches
We’re a family that loves to run, and loves to share the joy of running with others
Mike Kuntz
COACH, ROAD & DISTANCE FOCUS
NCAA Conference Coach of the Year and founder of The Bourbon Chase relay, Mike has made a career of nurturing the joy of running at all levels. As Head Coach of the University of Louisville, Mike led the women’s XC team to their first-ever conference championships and developed the first All-Americans in track & field on both the men’s and women’s side in the history of the program. He later coached his daughter and Odyssey's own Emma Dudzinski to a new HS state record in the 800m, as well as helped guide a young runner named Yared Nuguse into becoming one of the fastest milers in the country. Yared's now the American record holder over several distances and the fourth fastest miler of all time. But ask Mike about any of those accolades and he’d rather show you pictures of his grandkids…although he is pretty darn excited about Yared too.
Jacob Kuntz
COACH, TRAIL & ULTRA FOCUS
Former D3 steeplechaser turned trail and endurance specialist, Jacob is just as comfortable tackling mountain ultras as he is hitting the track for a speed session. Jacob and his wife Maggie lived in the Mountain West for a few years before settling in Ohio, their new home-base for Beast Coast trail exploration. A fitness tech designer by day, he loves working at the intersection of movement science, technology, creativity, and adventure. Jacob believes that developing mental durability and finding joy in the process are essential to healthy, balanced, long-term growth in running. He lives by the creed that pizza makes champions.
Cullen Kuntz
COACH, TRACK & MIDDLE DISTANCE FOCUS
Cullen is a middle-distance specialist living in Germany with his wife and two sons. But don’t let the speedwork fool you – he’s an easy-days-easy kinda guy and logs most of his miles with a stroller. Prone to injury and with a D2 track career cut short, he’s deeply committed to mobility and core strength to maintain a healthy relationship with training. In the real world, he’s a writer and translator in the financial sector, and walks the talk of running for life with PRs from 800m to 10km all set in his 30s.
Stephanie Kuntz
COACH, HEALTH & WELLBEING FOCUS
Stephanie is a 30-year nursing professional with a special interest in longevity, aging, and healthy living. Once upon a time a standout high school runner with 14 state championships as well as seven individual conference titles while competing at the University of Louisville, Stephanie is now a director for a Fortune 500 health company and brings her dedication to improving lives to the Odyssey community by helping our people across their entire life journey.
Emma Dudzinski
COACH, TRACK & MIDDLE DISTANCE FOCUS
High school phenom and 8-time state champ, Emma was a junior USA finalist and competed in multiple NCAA championships in both cross country and track. Now she runs purely for fun, making time for new passions like yoga and hiking while she works on her PhD in engineering. You’ll find her outdoors with her husband, in a kayak, or up a rock wall working on her fear of heights. She helps athletes with their sports-life balance and is a mentor for our female athletes.
